Higher Education as an Industry

The goal of this program is to produce understanding of how institutions of higher education actually work and how the set of institutions functions together as an industry.
The interactive university simulator, Virtual U., a new software product that enables a player to preside over a university and provides a compelling new way to understand and work with the challenges of higher education, is now available in the market. The Foundation is supporting new releases of Virtual U and the strengthening of the user community for Virtual U. For more information, visit www.virtualupdate.org.
We continue to emphasize the less studied parts of the industry, especially community colleges. The Foundation actively supports the Community College Research Center at Teachers College. We continue to be interested in how community colleges connect to particular industries and labor markets.
