Monica Lai

Senior Investment Director

  • Monica Lai joined the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in 2016 as Senior Investment Director. Along with the investment team, Monica is involved in managing the Foundation’s endowment including fund manager selection, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring of existing relationships. Prior to joining the Foundation, Monica was Director of Pfizer Inc.’s US Pension Plan where she led the investment team and was responsible for asset-allocation and the asset-liability management. She was also the head of Pfizer’s alternative investments portfolio. Earlier in her career, Monica worked in private equity at Harvest Partners and McCown DeLeeuw and Company. Monica began her career as an investment banking analyst at Merrill Lynch. Monica holds a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Third Street Music Settlement, the nation’s longest-running community music school.
