The Foundation occasionally makes limited, targeted investments in areas related to our mission but not falling under other Foundation grantmaking programs. These investments, called Initiatives, allow the Foundation to take advantage of unique opportunities to advance our mission when they arise. In some cases, an Initiative may be started as a prelude to the launch of a formal grant program.
