Lauren von Eckartsberg is the Foundation’s Grants Manager, responsible for the integrity, compliance, and effectiveness of the Foundation’s grantmaking operations. She also plays a central leadership role in the management and stewardship of the Sloan Research Fellowship program, the Foundation’s longest running grant program.

Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked as a Localization and Peacebuilding Policy Specialist with the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) in the field of women, peace and security. She worked with women and indigenous peoples, facilitating workshops on bringing international and national level policies on women, peace and security down to local levels of implementation in Uganda, Colombia, and Sierra Leone.

Outside of her current and past work in the nonprofit sector, von Eckartsberg is a portrait and documentary photographer. She is a graduate of the International Center of Photography’s one-year certificate program in Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism, where she was a recipient of the Director’s Fellowship. In 2025 she was awarded an LMCC Manhattan Arts Grant for creative engagement, and her work has been featured in W Magazine, Rockefeller Center’s Flag Project, Northern Manhattan Arts Association’s (NoMAA) The Gram Uptown and Women in the Heights shows, Worthless Studio’s Free Film Project, and Harness Magazine. In 2021 she was a member of the Eddie Adams Workshop. From 2022–2024 she served the photography collective and creative agency Souls in Focus as its Education and Community Engagement Director, and currently serves as one of its Creative Consultants.

She holds a master’s degree from Columbia University in Latin American and Caribbean Studies with a focus on women and indigenous populations in the Andes region. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University with majors in Psychology and Spanish and a minor in Photography.
