Michael Putignano joined the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in September 2025 as Investment Director, supporting the management of the Foundation’s investment portfolio.

Putignano previously worked at the Foundation from 2021 to 2024, first as an Investment Analyst and later as a Senior Investment Analyst. Prior to rejoining the Foundation in 2025, he was a Vice President on the private equity team of Cliffwater, an asset manager and institutional investment consultant, where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and monitoring private investments. Earlier in his career, Putignano held roles as an Analyst and Associate at Cliffwater, as well as an Operations Analyst at Millennium Management.

Putignano graduated with a B.S. in Finance from Fordham University in 2018 and is both a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charterholder.
